Dear Reader,

I have always believed in the power of literature to reach the heart, stir the mind, and remind us all of our common humanity. And I have always admired writers who chose storytelling as a way to tear down the barriers between peoples. It is in part for this reason that I chose to write Mornings in Jenin.

It took me four years to write this story and another four to finally get it published. At times I was daunted by the challenge, but the desire to give a voice to a people who have been muted for so long always propelled me to keep trying.

I put my heart in every page of this novel and I am a better person for having loved the characters in it. I hope Mornings in Jenin will touch your heart, stir your mind, and remind you of our common humanity; that we are all on this earth to lift each other up.

Warmly,

susie
